This past week, we officially kicked off our special Fringe events, building up the excitement to Portsmouth Comic Con in May! Here’s a run-down of all the fantastic events we have held so far, and don’t worry – there is still so much coming up!
February 7 – Cosplay Social #1
Along with our friends at Dream Team Portsmouth and the welcoming Guildhall Village, we successfully organised the first Cosplay Social get-together where we got to meet many of you who wanted to come by and chat about all things cosplay, plans for the upcoming Con, and just general geeky goodness! After all, it’s all about the community and giving everyone a chance to make a friend and share their excitement with them! The turnout was great, the atmosphere was very friendly and warm, and we had a lovely time and a delicious bite! Already looking forward to the next one!
February 13 – Drink and Draw #1 with Russell Mark Olson
We also had the pleasure to be joined by established comic artist Russell Mark Olson for our first Drink and Draw session over at the Guildhall Village! Once again, the event turned out brilliantly and it was an enjoyable and creative way to meet new people and explore your artistic talents, even if you’ve always thought you had none. Russell was chatty and friendly with all the guests, supported everyone with helpful tips and advice, and we all had a great night!
February 14 – Mask Making Workshop
The workshop was a complete success! The sold-out event saw over 120 kids with their families join us on Valentine’s Day for their chance at becoming a hero for a day! And that they did! All the masks were beautifully decorated with vibrant colours and glitter, inspired by the kids’ favourite heroes! What’s more is that so many of them came dressed up in full hero gear – we saw Wonder Woman, Spider Man and many more walking around in the Guildhall Studio! Dream Team Portsmouth were here once again in their fabulous cosplays, supporting us and posing for so many great photos! These events are always such a joy!
