Jacob Phillips

At the age of 11 Jacob wrote, drew and printed his own comic book, Roboy which he sold at Brighton Comic Con from behind his dads table. Growing up with a father that drew comics Jacob has been surrounded by them his entire life, both drawing and reading them.

After leaving school Jacob went to university to study Illustration with Animation at Manchester School of Art. During his time here I started working professionally as a freelance illustrator which he has been doing ever since. Jacob have worked with clients such as BBC, Wellcome Trust, Arrow Video, Kino Lorber and many more.

Jacob’s first professional comic job was drawing Jack & Lucy, written by Rachael Smith which was commissioned by Wellcome Trust and Oldham Library in Greater Manchester. Since then he has been working with Ed Brubaker and his father, Sean Phillips, colouring their books Criminal, Eisner winning My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies and Pulp. Jacob is now working on the artwork for new Image title That Texas Blood with writer Chris Condon, due to release May 2020.
